'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the thrilling closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game ended with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative strike from outside the box, and his teammate quickly converted the rebound before racing off toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This completed an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. Amid the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a spectator shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result earned a upcoming match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's volley from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right defensive wing after the team changed tactics. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way Orient played positively.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they know how to manage and slow down a game. You can think you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It demands a tough attitude and attention just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at his former club and has rapidly replicated that in south Wales. At Orient he linked up again with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was probably a bit naive going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for his team and nation, performing well for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including both legs games against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his knack for a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

This represents a remarkable path for the player from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his parent, his father, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they played on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was closed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he recalls, chuckling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I thought I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a minibus driven by team personnel, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself a teammate, Ronald, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the lads but I'm planning to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on public transport after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
